Free tools

Small tools for the jobs a phone line brings with it.

Free, with nothing to sign up for. Each one runs inside your browser, which means your files stay on your own machine and there is nothing for us to keep.

  • No account, no email address asked for
  • Nothing is uploaded to us
  • More will be added here
  • Phone audio converter

Turn a greeting or hold music into the file your phone system asks for, and find out what was wrong with the original.

Anyone whose upload was refused with an error that explained nothing.

  • Erlang C calculator

Calculate agents needed on phones and staff to schedule, including shrinkage and occupancy. Compare scenarios and import a day of call volumes.

Anyone deciding whether the phone needs another pair of hands, and wanting a reason rather than a guess.

  • Phone menu builder

Write the menu a caller hears, find the keys that lead nowhere, and act as the caller yourself before anybody else has to.

Anyone about to publish a phone menu, or anyone whose callers keep ending up in the wrong place.

  • Missed-call calculator

Work out what answering more of your calls would be worth, in contribution rather than revenue, with nothing filled in for you.

Anyone deciding whether another pair of hands on the phone would pay for itself.

  • VoIP bandwidth calculator

Work out how much of your connection a given number of simultaneous calls would use, with the packet overhead that codec bitrate alone leaves out.

Anyone sizing a connection before moving a phone system onto it.

  • Phone message writer

Write the six messages a caller hears, in one sitting and in one voice, then record them yourself and run them through the converter.

Anyone whose messages were written on different days by different people and sound like it.

  • Phone cost comparator

Put the quotes you actually have side by side over a period you choose, with the commitments and the lines nobody priced kept visible.

Anyone holding two quotes that are not comparable as written.

  • Phone list cleaner

Turn a contact list into numbers a phone system will import, with the ambiguous rows reported rather than quietly guessed at.

Anyone moving a list of numbers between systems that disagree about how one is written.

  • Recording storage calculator

Work out what recordings take up, and what they cost once a retention window is actually enforced and storage stops growing.

Anyone about to turn recording on and wondering what it will cost by next year.

  • Coverage planner

See when somebody is actually there to answer across time zones, and where a clock change opens a hole nobody rostered.

Anyone covering more hours than one office can, with people in more than one place.

Why these are free, and what that costs you

It costs you nothing, and that is not a figure of speech. These pages have no endpoint behind them: the work happens in your browser, so there is no server bill to recover, no file of yours on a disk of ours, and no reason to ask you for an email address before showing you the answer.

What we get is that you found us while doing something we are good at. That seems a fair trade to put in writing.

Why we write them

These exist because we build a phone system, and each one is a job that lands on whoever looks after a business line: a greeting the upload refuses, a menu key that leads nowhere, a rota with a hole in it. If the tool settled your question, that is the whole exchange. If it showed you the problem is bigger than one file, tell us what your current system does that annoys you most; that is usually the shortest route to a useful conversation.
